Rarely before has the call for systems thinking and leadership been so profound. Thriving in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world requires RDNs and NDTRs to see broader connections, think in new ways, and add new tools to their toolbox. This session will demonstrate how thinking critically and understanding complex challenges using a systems framework will increase leadership capacity, practice efficacy, and drive beneficial impacts. This session will analyze how systems thinking and systems practice tools can effectively address challenges and how RDNs and NDTRs can leverage policy, system, and environmental change strategies to advance individual nutrition interventions. Regardless of area of practice, evidence-based systems approaches will empower nutrition and dietetic practitioners to be more responsive to rapidly changing conditions and be equipped to lead transformational change.
