Learning Objectives

  • Describe Protected Health Information and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)/HITECH related regulations for health information privacy and security.
  • Describe how nutrition-related data flow through an integrated healthcare system and across care delivery settings and safeguards to ensure veracity and reliability are maintained.
  • Discuss the concepts associated with ethical healthcare IT practice related to nutrition, including patient generated data from Personal Health Records, portals or other sources – and the patient's right to his/her own health information.

The Certificate of Training program consists of five separate modules that build on each other. To receive the certificate associated with this training, all five modules and related tests must first be completed and a subsequent final post test exam in Module 5 must be passed with a minimum of an 80% in order to receive the Certificate of Training. The Certificate of Training can then be downloaded and printed from the site.
