The fourth and final module in the series will focus on counseling techniques and approaches that support behavior change. Using the communication techniques in the prior modules for helping patients to develop self-management skills and considering environmental and policy changes should help positively impact behavior change. There are still more issues to consider and this module should address the following: How do we identify and what can we do to help those who may be immobilized by health distress or depression? Are there health literacy issues that we need to identify and adjust our teaching strategies for? How can we best interact with those who come from different ethnic or racial backgrounds?
