The field of public health nutrition is diverse with individuals employed in a variety of settings focused on prevention of chronic diseases such as obesity. Despite the variety of career paths, there are foundational components of public health nutrition including the 10 Essential Public Health Services, the social determinants of health and theoretical frameworks that contain concepts of cultural and linguistic competence. Module 1 will specifically focus on a social ecological model that provides a theoretical framework used by many public health nutrition professionals.

The Certificate of Training program consists of five separate modules that build on each other. To receive the certificate associated with this training, all five modules and related tests must first be completed and a subsequent final post test exam in Module 5 must be passed with a minimum of an 80 percent in order to receive the Certificate of Training. The Certificate of Training can then be downloaded and printed from the site.
