Module 2 will explore employment opportunities in public health nutrition. Public health nutritionists hold positions at the local, state, and national levels in both government and non-profit institutions. In the United States, government positions are dictated by the availability of funding from federal agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) and the United States Department of Agriculture. The work of a public health nutritionist often includes: planning, developing, monitoring, evaluating, administering and establishing performance measures for public health nutrition programs, providing nutrition services to high risk populations and/or providing training and technical assistance.
