Health and Wellness has become a customer value proposition at supermarkets and is being focused on by many retailers both large and small. Shoppers are looking for affordable ways to stay healthy and the educational background of the registered dietitian nutritionist puts them in the unique position to impact consumer shopping behaviors right at the shelf. Supermarkets are becoming health and nutrition providers and RDNs serve as a professional and credible liaison to customers, driving loyalty to the store as a trusted resource for health solutions. One of the biggest challenges for the retail dietitian is to successfully show and communicate how their role has a positive impact on the business. Although this may be difficult, it is not impossible if you understand the retail world and what is important to measure. This module will explore the roles registered dietitian nutritionists may hold in the retail setting and provides a variety of tools and information to successfully measure and communicate return on investment (ROI) for these positions.
