Details

Best practices in critical care nutrition are essential to achieve positive outcomes in the intensive care unit patient. Barriers to the provision of adequate nutrition care are frequent and can contribute to negative outcomes. This interactive session guided by critical care nutrition experts will assist attendees in application of evidence based practices within their ICU's. Patient cases will be presented to the attendees by the expert presenters with the facilitator asking specific questions to address key critical care nutrition issues including nutrition screening and assessment practices, hemodynamic instability, enteral access, when to initiate parenteral nutrition and enteral feeding intolerance. Practices and experiences specific to Covid-19 patients will be included and discussed. Recommendations provided by The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the Society of Critical Care Medicine specific to care of the Covid-19 patient will be incorporated.
