Details

Every decade, the Healthy People initiative at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services develops science-based national objectives with the goal of improving the health of all Americans. Earlier this year, the Healthy People 2030 targets were released, setting the goals for public health in the U.S. throughout the next decade.

Participants will hear from the Deputy Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion who will provide an overview of the Healthy People process; explain what's new in HP2030, particularly for diabetes; demonstrate how RDNs can utilize the enhanced HP2030 website to identify resources for their communities; and learn how HP2030 feeds into activities and policies across the federal government and beyond.

Attendees will also hear from the Director of the Division of Diabetes Translation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who will discuss CDC's diabetes work, including their new "command center" for diabetes and efforts to improve and expand the Diabetes Prevention Program. Dr. Albright will also discuss the ways in which federal policy drives diabetes care in the U.S.
