Despite the majority of nutrition professionals being concerned with climate change and its impact on human health only about one-third of dietitians are incorporating climate change mitigation strategies into practice, which include efforts to reduce or prevent emission of greenhouse gases. After this session, participants will be well versed on the state of the climate, how it affects agriculture, and how it will impact human health globally and locally in the years to come.
The session will also cover the efforts being made to incorporate sustainable diets into nutrition based public policy. Participants will leave feeling empowered and able to adopt climate change mitigation strategies into their practice.
