This session will explore three school-based nutrition programs, the Shaping Healthy Choices Program, the Healthy Outcomes for Teens (HOT) Project, and the Peer-education About Weight Steadiness (PAWS) Club Program. These programs integrate multiple components and partner with state and federal agencies. As current federal mandates for school wellness policies are implemented in school districts nationwide, cutting-edge research on these topics will inform the development and improvement of comprehensive nutrition programs. This timely session is of interest to Academy members who design and evaluate school wellness programs by educating attendees on incorporating classroom nutrition education, addressing foods available on the school campus, enhancing school and community partnerships, and integrating nutrition/wellness policies.
