This timely session will explain the United States Department of Agriculture's Local School Wellness Policy (LSWP) Final Rule and expanded requirements that went into effect on June 30, 2017. Participants will hear new results from the National Wellness Policy Study which evaluated the strength of policies, challenges faced at the local level, and promising practices to promote health and academic success of students. The session will also highlight how Local Educational Agencies are using evidence-based strategies to set specific nutrition education and physical activity goals, standards for foods served to students, and food marketing guidelines.
