The Agricultural Act of 2014 called for Birth to 24 month (B-24) Guidelines to be written as part of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The goal of this session is to examine why B-24 guidance is so important, how it can directly impact life-long health of mother and baby, and what specific challenges it may pose for dietitians and health care professionals. Four nationally known speakers will:

  • Share the critical need and vision for how B-24 impacts the U.S. population – especially the disadvantaged and food insecure
  • Review key insights from NHANES consumption data for infants and toddlers
  • Provide practical guidance for developmental milestones and feeding practices during this critical time period
  • Share practice application insights for crucial transition times that are uniquely complex in maternal-infant nutrition as well as the need for engagement as B-24 efforts progress towards developing new nutrition policy.
