Overview of cultural applications of nutritional education and effectiveness of cultural dialog in adoption of dietary recommendations. Slim Peace has been working in the United States since 2011 to bridge cultural divides among culturally and religiously diverse women. The mission of Slim Peace is to empower women to improve their eating habits and adopt a healthy lifestyle through a group support system run by certified facilitators. The founder of Slim Peace will discuss the success of the program and how it has impacted the life of the participants. The other speaker will discuss how to provide nutrition counseling and education to culturally specific situations, particularly for Muslim women and their families who may suffer from chronic disease, struggle to provide nutritional meals while fasting during Ramadan, or who might have difficulty obtaining halal products within their communities.
