Consumers have different capacities to understand and apply health messages that are needed to make personnel health decisions. To improve the health of consumers, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians Registered need to develop nutrition education tools for consumers with different literacy levels and technological skills. Although handouts have been a traditional method to communicate nutrition education, consumers are turning to the Internet and other resources for health information.
This panel will review traditional and emerging online resources, the current evidence concerning their effectiveness with different populations, and provide tips for developing, designing, and evaluating nutrition education resources for populations with different literacy levels.
