Prevention is an essential element in a global strategy to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality. With new recommendations issued in the 2018 report by the American Institute for Cancer Research/World Cancer Research Fund (AICR/WCRF), "Diet, Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer: A Global Perspective," and updated guidelines from the American Cancer Society, nutrition professionals must understand what is new and how these recommendations intersect with their areas of practice. Dr. Steven Clinton will describe the global synthesis and interpretation of the research, and analyze key conclusions of the reports. Karen Collins will examine the intersection of cancer prevention recommendations with lifestyle recommendations for other major chronic diseases. She will explore research-based creative strategies to inspire patients to implement the recommendations. Attendees will be prepared to engage with patients to help them create personalized cancer-protective lifestyle prescriptions.
