Research indicates eating disorders have the highest fatality rate of all mental illnesses. As pivotal members of the health care team, RDNs can considerably impact prevention and treatment to decrease this mortality rate. Common assumptions consider EDs affecting only adolescent females of European American decent. On the contrary, EDs affect people in all walks of life.

Those not typically recognized to experience an ED suffer longer with poorer outcomes. The presenters will help RDNs better understand how EDs are experienced within three of these often missed populations: pregnancy, mid-life, and people with type 2 diabetes. Using case studies and experiential techniques, attendees will practice tactile tools to add to their nutrition therapy.
