RDNs and NDTRs in hospitals and nursing homes should ask themselves: Is my team performing at the levels defined in Evidence-Based Practice and Patient Safety Standards of Care? Do I have effective systems of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)? To monitor staff practices and delivery of care? Have I studied the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulatory requirements for QAPI? Have I implemented CMS QAPI tools for accountability, or Root Cause Analysis with sustainable corrective actions? How effective is my communication and documentation with my administration and their regulatory requirement  to oversee dietary services? Will my team and I be able to demonstrate a “Good Faith Effort” to meet these requirements?

This session is a brainstorming session to answer these questions. The session includes new 2016 Joint Commission (TJC) standards, streamlined and aligned with CMS QAPI regulations. It also includes practical applications of effective CMS QAPI tools used in over 2,100 facilities.
