This session will present a review of emerging topics in nutrition research. Speakers will identify research gaps and opportunities for the future of nutrition research including those outlined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and in the National Nutrition Research Roadmap (Roadmap). The Roadmap was developed by the Interagency Committee on Human Nutrition Research and was designed to guide federal nutrition research and identifies research priorities for the next 5-10 years. The Roadmap identifies opportunities for building evidence-based nutrition knowledge that supports healthy eating. Research priorities at the Academy align with those identified by the roadmap. The Academy's current and future research directions will be discussed and speakers will share important implications for RDNs and other nutrition practitioners. The session will conclude by exploring skills that will be important to the next generation of human nutrition researchers.
