Experience 'hands-on' learning about mobile apps for diet assessment in the research space. Presenters are dietitians working with engineers to create systems that use image analysis and visualization on mobile phones to enhance dietary assessment in order to reduce burden on researchers and study participants. Learn the new vocabulary and the types of image review processes, such as "trained human analyst" or "automated methods." Learn about infrastructure needs, tools, modes of administration, and disciplines with which to partner. The presenters will share key learnings and experiences in the implementation of mobile methods in studies of community dwelling populations from children to adults. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out mobile apps, practice their abilities to assess diet from images and explore future ideas for their research. Although the session is designed for research dietitians, RDNs from all practice areas are welcome to attend and translate the information to their practice.
