Standard intervention for weight loss includes dietary calorie restriction and an increase in cardiovascular exercise. Using weight as the primary measurement tool for success and compliance increases the risk of metabolic adaptation since lean body mass is not monitored. This session will present methods of assessment and tools for tracking results. It will also highlight the synergistic impact of resistance training and macronutrient balance on the resting metabolic rate. Original research findings and data from client case studies gathered in our lab will be presented.
