No matter your area of practice, you are likely encountering patients who have had bariatric surgery. Without standardization for nutrition guidelines in this field, recommendations vary widely among practitioners and often diverge from evidence-based practice. In this session, you’ll receive best practice guidelines for pre-op and post-op care practices including preoperative weight loss and diets, postoperative diet progression, and macro- and micronutrient recommendations. Whether you see bariatric surgery patients daily or a few times per year, you’ll be able to confidently promote optimal care practices for your patient.

  • CPEU: 1.0

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe evidence-based preoperative diet protocols
  2. Identify priorities for the postoperative diet progression
  3. Apply micronutrient guidelines to supplement recommendations
