Evidence-based practice integrates use of the best available evidence, clinical expertise and patient values and preferences. Often, one or more of the three fundamentals of evidence-based practice is left out. This webinar will focus on integrating patient values and preferences in evidence-based practice. This involves adopting a style of motivational interviewing and a complementary process of shared decision making to ensure the patient’s voice is incorporated into the decision-making process. This webinar demonstrates effective MI and SDM in clinical practice and discusses the relationship between SDM and MI, and highlights how to measure outcomes that demonstrate RDNs are effective in helping patients achieve patient-centered care.
