Change is inevitable, and a leader needs to prepare to adapt. Evidence shows that leader and manager trust and credibility are critically important for efficient and profitable functioning. Times of organizational adaptation place a special premium on trust and credibility, because both are especially important during these times. Unfortunately, both are also especially endangered. This session will present evidence and straightforward tools to recognize and manage these essential employee attitudes.

The Virtual Workshop includes pre- and post-workshop readings and assessments, and will follow the below outline:

  • Define trust, credibility and behavioral integrity
  • Why trust, credibility and behavioral integrity are important: consequences
  • Key pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • A model for thinking about trust

Tony Simons
Professor of Management and Organizations
Cornell University

Tony Simons wrote The Integrity Dividend: Leading by the Power of Your Word in 2008, based on 15 years of survey and interview research into the notion that the credibility that follows from consistent follow-through is a leadership essential, and has continued his thought leadership on this difficult and consequential issue. Tony has published over 35 journal articles and book chapters for managerial and scholarly audiences. His work has appeared in the Harvard Business Review, The Journal of Applied Psychology, and more. He is a tenured professor of management and leadership at Cornell University, where he has inspired and trained students and executives, and conducted cutting-edge research since 1993. 

He earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Tony has spoken and trained executives in leadership, negotiation, and credibility management at Northwestern's Kellogg School, Cornell and in seminars in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. 

He lives with his 17 year old son Cole, his partner Sage & a large white Samoyed dog in 100 acres of protected woods in Ithaca, NY.
