The purpose of this article is to identify the RD’s role in the early identification and management of common gastrointestinal complications that occur in lung transplant recipients.
As a required member of the interdisciplinary team caring for lung transplant recipients, the registered dietitian contributes significantly toward patient success through providing appropriate medical nutrition therapy. In this specific target population, a variety of gastrointestinal complications can occur which may impact overall morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this article is to identify the RD's role in the early identification and management of common gastrointestinal complications that occur in lung transplant recipients.
