Speakers

Katie Harper, MS, RD, CNSC, CSO

Katie is a registered dietitian with over 15 years of experience working with patients who have cancer. She received a bachelor's degree in Nutrition Sciences at Washington State University, obtained a Master’s of Science (MS) in Nutrition and completed an accredited internship through Colorado State University. She is a Certified Specialist in Oncology (CSO) and a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC). Katie has been very involved in the ON DPG over the years in various positions.

As a Registered Dietitian, Katie's passion and focus is helping patients with cancer optimize nutrition throughout their cancer journey. Nine years ago, Katie joined the Blood and Marrow Transplant team at the University of Colorado Hospital and currently works with patients on the Oncology and BMT inpatient unit. She assesses and develops nutrition plans for patients before, during, and after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplants. Additionally, Katie assists in the management of gastrointestinal Graft vs Host Disease by creating individualized nutrition plans to minimize symptoms and promote healing of the gastrointestinal tract. Katie is currently working on a project to increase the use of prophylactic feeding tubes for enteral nutrition while patients are undergoing HSCT.

Erin Schmidt, RD, CSO

Erin Schmidt is a Registered Dietitian at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle, Washington. Erin is a board certified specialist in oncology nutrition and is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has worked in adult Blood and Marrow Transplant at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for 13 years in both acute and chronic care, as well as clinical research in the BMT population.
