Self-monitoring is an important part of this practice, but it's equally important to know when and how to report unethical behavior among your peers. In this webinar, members of the 2021-2022 Ethics Committee will provide a comprehensive overview of the Academy/CDR Disciplinary & Ethics Complaints Policy, including guidance for identifying and assessing potential ethics violations. Karen P. Lacey MS, RDN, CD, FAND

Karen graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and completed a dietetic internship at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received a Master's in Dietetics from Mt Mary College in Milwaukee, Wis.. Her past work experiences include teaching nutrition at Bellin College of Nursing in Green Bay Wis.; clinical dietetic practices at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.; and director of the dietetic programs at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Ms. Lacey's past leadership activities include president of the Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a member of the Academy's Association Position Committee, a board member of the former Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education and member of the Academy's House of Delegates. Karen also chaired the Quality Management Committee, was a member of the Standardized Language Task Force and chaired the work group that developed the Nutrition Care Process and Model. She has also served on the Commission for Dietetic Registration and chaired the Competency Assurance Panel; a subcommittee of CDR that oversees the Professional Continuing Education for registered dietitians and dietetic technicians.

Nina L. Roofe PhD, RDN, LD, FAND

Nina Roofe, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Dietetics from the University of Central Arkansas in 1990. She completed the dietetic internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1991 and began a career in clinical dietetics and management. While directing the Outpatient Nutrition Clinic at St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, she completed the Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in Corporate Health Promotion in 1998. Dr. Roofe has consulted in various capacities throughout her career including psychiatric hospitals, long-term care facilities, and privately for families of children with autism and food allergies. In 2010, Dr. Roofe earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Iowa State University. She has taught dietetics students since 2002 and is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences. Her research is focused on the impact of service learning on knowledge integration and specifically interprofessional educational strategies. Dr. Roofe has served as a site reviewer since 2014 with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and was elected to the ACEND Board of Directors in 2019. She is currently serving as Chair of the ACEND Policy & Procedure committee. Dr. Roofe was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Ethics Committee by the President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2020.
