Evidence-based Nutrition Practice Guidelines (EBNPG) are critical for directing patient and practitioner decisions about appropriate medical nutrition therapy. Developing EBNPG requires a considerable amount of resources, but evidence shows that most recommendations are not operationalized in practice. The Academy's member-based Implementation Subcommittee is developing implementation strategies for RDNs guided by implementation science. Audience members will hear rationale for use of implementation science and how it can be used to improve evidence-based practice. An example of an implementation strategy--an online implementation toolkit--will be presented, and a research study from the Academy's Nutrition Research Network- Assessing Uptake and Impact of Guidelines in Renal Nutrition (or the AUGmeNt study) will also be discussed. AUGmeNt is an effectiveness-implementation study that will evaluate implementation strategies for the Academy's newly published Chronic Kidney Disease EBNPG. An overview of the methodology, study trainings, and preliminary results will be presented.
