Deborah Abel Ph.D., RDN, LDN
Deborah Abel, PhD, RDN, LDN, is director of the Graduate Certificate in Pediatric Nutrition Program and clinical associate professor in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, Florida International University (FIU). She was a neonatal pediatric dietitian in the NICU at Riley Hospital IU Health and completed her doctoral research on the premature infant; she joined FIU and continued the development of online pediatric nutrition courses. Dr. Abel received a US Patent for the development of a unique neonatal nutrition assessment system in the NICU (2011). During her career spanning over 30 years, she also has had extensive leadership and management experience as director/manager of food and nutrition services.
Heather Evans MS, RDN, LDN, CNSC, CLC
Heather Evans, MS, RDN, LDN, CNSC, CLC, is a Medical Science Liaison for Reckitt (Mead Johnson Nutrition). She has over 20 years of research and clinical experience in the field of nutrition for women, infants, and children. Her focus is allergy, gastroenterology, intensive care and clinical investigation. Heather has been an advisory board member for the International Hospital Federation focused on Infant Feeding. Her research team won a state award for their work on Neonatal Bone Health. She is an influential educator, leader, and advisor for clinical and research teams in the pursuit of quality science and healthcare outcomes. Her future goal is to improve science communication.
