Navigating the Evolving Landscape of Obesity Management: Integrating Anti-Obesity Medications and Nutrition Counseling

Your Price $10.00 - $54.00

The use of the highly effective and increasingly available anti-obesity medications (such as, Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound) are dramatically changing the landscape of short and long-term obesity management. The significant weight loss experienced by many clients in a relatively short period of time allows them to experience enhanced quality of life and improvement in the management of other co-morbidities, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), sleep apnea and more.

With the rise in use of these medications, it is critical for RDNs to know how to advocate among their interdisciplinary colleagues for referral to an RDN to counsel on the optimal use of the medications including efforts to minimize side effects, maximize retention of lean body mass, maintain adequate nutrient intake, and offer counseling to assure long term healthy lifestyle habits. While medications can be highly effective, lifestyle continues to be the foundation of the entire continuum of care for obesity. This session will use a case study approach to apply session content.
