The Role of the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in California Group Homes for Weight Stabilization of Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Your Price $0.00 - $54.00

In 1999, under the Olmstead Act, states began moving individuals with developmental disabilities (IWDD) out of developmental centers and into the community. Many IWDD moved into small 8-10 person group homes. In California (CA) the Registered Dietitian (RD) is required to consult with group homes, conducting screening, assessment, menu planning, and supporting surveys and audits. Opportunities exist for RDs to consult with group homes as independent contractors. This presentation will review the RDN experience in CA, detailing their role of assuring optimum nutrition while promoting weight maintenance in partnership with the interdisciplinary team.
