Social media is a viable marketing strategy for dietitians to build an online audience, engage with digital communities, support public health, promote services & demonstrate expertise. However, we’re bound to ethical & professional standards & practice in relative environments, including Instagram & the like. Thus, online activities should be carefully considered and through a lens of context & care. Attend this session to ensure content creation & community engagement align with public protection & strengthen the RDN/NDTR reputation by applying the Academy’s Code of Ethics & Standards of Professionalism. Common dilemmas in nutrition communications will be critically evaluated.

Drew Hemler (he/him) is an award-winning, internationally accredited registered dietitian who provides nutrition education & communication, wellness program planning, and professional development services for non-profit, corporate, regulatory, and dietetic affiliate organizations in Canada and throughout the U.S. Additionally, Drew serves as a Lecturer & Advisor for Buffalo State University’s graduate Multidisciplinary Studies – Nutrition Track program, fostering student, staff & practitioner know-why & know-how in ethical practice, scope, and standards of professional performance. He has served in leadership roles for state & national dietetic organizations for 10 years now, including the C.D.R., the Academy’s Center for Lifelong Learning, Dietitians of Canada, the College of Dietitians of Ontario & the NY State Academy.
