Holly A. Van Poots, RDN, CSP, LD, FAND

Speaker

Holly is an RDN entrepreneur specializing in integrative nutrition care throughout the lifespan. She primarily serves clients with disordered eating, eating disorders, and disorders of gut-brain interaction through her private practice, Be Balanced Nutrition, LLC. Holly graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech and then completed her dietetic internship at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals (now called VCU Health). Prior to starting a small business in 2017, she worked with acutely ill children in several large health systems for over 15 years. She has been a Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition since 2006 and has served as a subject matter expert for the Commission on Dietetic Registration's Pediatric Specialty Exam. She became a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2015, received the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group (PNPG) Outstanding Member of the Year Award in 2019, and was honored as the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (VAND) Outstanding Dietitian of the Year in 2021.

She is currently Chair-Elect for the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine (DIFM) DPG as well as a Past Chair of PNPG. She has been editor of the PNPG Building Block for Life and is currently copy editor for the DIFM newsletter, The Integrative RDN, and for the patient education team of the Renal Dietitians Practice Group. She served two terms in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics House of Delegates and is a Past President of VAND's Blue Ridge district.

In addition to being a dedicated leader, a published author, and an international presenter, Holly is a military spouse and the proud parent of two young adult sons. Outside of nutrition, she enjoys working as a Pilates, yoga, and mobility instructor.
