In this webinar, attendees will learn about pediatric brain tumor treatment and the development of a nutrition risk classification system to help neuro-oncology teams and dietitians identify patients at highest risk for nutritional concerns during their treatment. With an emphasis on multidisciplinary care, a nurse practitioner and registered dietitian nutritionist discuss how to evaluate pediatric brain tumor patients for nutrition risk and provide proactive and cohesive nutrition intervention to optimize nutritional status throughout intensive treatment courses.

Speakers

Rachel Hill, RD, CSO, LD, CNSC

Rachel Hill is a Pediatric Clinical Dietitian at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She has specialized in the acute care of pediatric oncology patients for the past 10 years. Rachel has worked with her team to develop several proactive tools and protocols for her patients including automated outpatient screening, proactive weight management strategies for leukemia patients, hyperglycemia screening for ALL patients, vitamin D intervention strategies, and the neuro-oncology proactive decision aid that will be discussed today. She has also served as one of the leaders for the ON DPG's Pediatric Subunit since its inception in 2014 and is passionate about sharing training and resources with other pediatric oncology RDs to further improve the lives of children with cancer. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and completed her internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Mandy Mansell, APRN, MSN, CPNP-AC/PC, CPON

Mandy Mansell has worked at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas in the Hematology Oncology department for 18 years. For the last 8 years, she has served as the Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner where she has focused on providing holistic family-centered care in conjunction with clinical trial therapy. She received her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Texas in Arlington then returned to UT Arlington to receive both her Masters of Nursing in Pediatric Primary Care and a Post Masters Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care. She is passionate about empowering families through education and improving quality of life measures for her patient population.
