Learn the latest research and consumer snacking trends, and gain valuable insights to harness this information into credible, evidence-based nutrition advice to inspire a positive approach to weight management.

Dr. Joan Sabaté, director the Center for Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyles at Loma Linda University will discuss weight management research findings from the Avocado Nutrition Center, and Patricia Bannon, MS, RDN will share culinary tips and recipes to help your clients prepare satisfying, nutrient-dense snacks that add beneficial nutrients and don't eliminate foods or encourage restrictive diet plans.

Speakers

Patricia Bannan, MS, RDN

Patricia Bannan, MS, RDN is a nationally recognized registered dietitian nutritionist, healthy cooking expert, and captivating communicator inspiring millions of people to eat and live well. She is also the author of Eat Right When Time Is Tight. Patricia has conducted more than 1,000 media interviews over the past decade, including guest appearances on The TODAY Show, ABC News, and CNN. She has also written for and been interviewed by magazines such as O, The Oprah Magazine, People, Self, Shape, Fitness, Glamour, Parenting, Men's Health, Redbook and Good Housekeeping.

In addition to her nutrition expertise, Patricia received a professional chef certificate from The New School of Cooking in Los Angeles. She enjoys using her culinary skills to develop recipes, shoot cooking videos, and teach clients how to make healthful changes in their lives starting in the kitchen. Her website shares recipes and expert advice to help people live their best life.

She graduated cum laude from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics, completed her dietetic training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and received a Master of Science degree in nutrition communication from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.

Joan Sabaté, MD, DrPH

Joan Sabaté MD, DrPH, is a Professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology at Loma Linda University School of Public Health where he directs the Center for Nutrition, Lifestyle and Disease Prevention. Originally from Spain, Dr. Sabaté is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine who moved to the U.S.A. to further train in Public Health Nutrition. He obtained a doctorate in Nutrition and a Fellowship in Nutritional Epidemiology. Being a member of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is his most recent service to public health. He graduated cum laude from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics, completed her dietetic training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and received a Master of Science degree in nutrition communication from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.
