Details

RDNs today face challenges to provide clinical expertise in a complex and rapidly changing environment. Critical shortages of other health care professionals drive dietitians to expand their clinical skills in order to fill in gaps in the continuum of care.

This is an exciting time for dietetics with many opportunities for dietitians to shift the boundaries of their practice actively, develop new roles and expand existing roles in ways that significantly elevate their contributions to patient care and entrench the RDN's essential place in today's health care system.

This session highlights noteworthy practices on clinical skills education that prepare students as future practitioners. Panel participants will also share examples of how preceptors are being trained on these skills. To close the loop, the panel shares their experiences in developing RDN driven protocols within a hospital system.
