Teen Nutrition: Navigating the Complexities of Adolescence

Your Price $10.00 - $54.00

The tween and teen years are a time of transformative change with the onset of puberty, marked by a period of accelerated physical growth and cognitive development. At the same time, teens are experiencing significant psychosocial changes that impact mental health and well-being.

This is particularly challenging in today's world given the pervasive presence of social media, peer pressures, desire for autonomy and broader societal uncertainty that impact eating behaviors and dietary choices. To add further 'insult to injury', according to the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, adolescents are at greater risk of dietary inadequacy than any other life stage, creating a constellation of nutritional risks that can have far-reaching consequences for lifelong health and well-being and future generations.

This session will explore the unique challenges of this life stage; identify key, modifiable behavioral risk factors; and discuss contemporary nutrition-based intervention strategies that positively impact adolescent health and well-being during this critical life stage.
