Wondering why your patient is not improving…wounds are not healing…new or worsening infections…recent falls? Are there nutrition-related problems that might have been overlooked? Take a deeper dive into research and patterns of evidence that examine the role of nutrition and lifestyle in the progression of dwindling muscle mass and declining nutrition status in adults.
This interactive session will focus on the consequences of low muscle mass, sarcopenia, malnutrition, nutrient deficiencies and social determinants of health. Application of concepts will be demonstrated using a case study of a medically complex patient incorporating nutrition focused physical exams and nutrition driven differential diagnosis.
Participants are invited to brainstorm ways to turn knowledge into actionable changes to craft new collaborative relationships, examine nutrition-related contributors to poor clinical outcomes, fine-tune nutrition care and ultimately elevate the value of the RDN on the medical team.
