NDTR can significantly enhance patient nutrition outcomes through a collaboration with the RDN. NDTRs can assist with tasks associated with Indirect Calorimetry (IC), enteral tube placements, breast milk analysis and advanced diet educations.
This allows the RDNs to focus on more complex cases as NDTRs efficiently handle the technical aspects of a patient's intervention. Through competency education, NDTRs can develop specialized skills allowing for clinical advancement.
This ensures that both RDNs and NDTRs work at the top scope of practice by utilizing the unique strengths of both roles. Health care teams can deliver comprehensive high quality nutrition care.
