Nutrition in the Era of Highly Effective Modulator Therapy for Cystic Fibrosis

Your Price $10.00 - $54.00

This session will be on the changing face of nutrition in the era of modulator therapy used in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Recent therapeutic developments have resulted in highly effective modulator therapy (HEMT) which treats the salt transport defect the cell surface, significantly improving outcomes in people with CF (PWCF).

Lung function is improved on this therapy, resulting in decreased need for lengthy inpatient stays and fewer lung transplants. Nutritional outcomes are also affected, with improvements in weight, decrease in malabsorptive symptoms, and less need for enteral nutritional support. With these improvements, new challenges in nutrition include rapid weight gain and changes in nutrient needs for pediatric populations.
