Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is an endocrine condition that affects the reproductive and metabolic systems. Previously thought to only be a condition of reproductive aged women, we now understand that the metabolic implications persist through menopause.
In this session we will review how the person with PCOS experiences perimenopause and menopause compared to someone without. We will continue by discussing the metabolic implications of PCOS and menopause. Lastly, we will discuss nutrition strategies to support people with PCOS in the menopausal transition to prevent weight gain, CVD and type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with a focus on culinary medicine interventions.
