EI, one of the most respected skills for a leader to craft and implement, is an individual's ability to perceive, interpret, demonstrate, control, and use one's emotions to communicate with and relate to others. Session attendees will learn or expand their understanding of EI and how implementation can result in enhanced relationships, improved collaborations, stronger teams, and improved personal and professional outcomes through real-workplace stories and examples. This webinar is a collaboration between the Academy and the Management in Food and Nutrition Systems Dietetic Practice Group.

Kim Brenkus, MBA, RDN, LD, FAND

Kim Brenkus, MBA, RDN, LD, FAND, serves as Vice President of Patient Experience and Clinical Services for Metz Culinary Management. She is responsible for patient experience strategy, operations and outcomes with the ability to translate concepts and innovations of patient experience into actionable behaviors and outcomes for success. This includes creating and implementing programs and technology solutions that drive patient satisfaction, provide training opportunities, recommend and implement service style methods and open new business across divisions. Kim also leads our healthcare systems informatics analysts and project managers that maintain and enhance our patient dining software. Kim provides clinical practice leadership, training and development of clinical staff, sets nutrition standards, develops programs and performance improvement initiatives, maintains professional standards as well as serves as a resource for all divisions within Metz Culinary Management.

In preparation for her leadership role, Kim has years of career growing experience. She holds a Masters of Business from Lake Erie College and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Edinboro University. She is an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Fellow, has served on the Executive Committee as Chair for both Management in Food and Nutrition Services and Clinical Nutrition Managers Dietetic Practice Groups. She has been a speaker at the national FNCE®, developed a Management Training module for AND and authored a chapter in Effective Leadership and Management in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Joseph Quinlan, MSH, RD, LD/N, FAND

Joseph Quinlan, MSH, RD, LD/N, FAND, is a registered dietitian currently serving as a Market Director of Nutritional Services for AdventHealth Central Florida.  He has been with AdventHealth for 9 years, servings as a Clinical Nutrition Manager, System Manager for Clinical Nutrition, and Director for nutritional services prior to his current role.  Joey obtained both his Bachelors' and Master's degrees in Health Science Nutrition from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.  He has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Florida and for Adventist University of Health Science, worked as a clinical dietitian, community health dietitian, and held management positions in different organizations.  He is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and sat on several Academy committees.  He has presented leadership and quality management sessions at numerous meetings including the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Food and Nutrition Symposium, the Premier Breakthroughs Annual Conference, and The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo.  Joey currently lives in Orlando, Fla.
