  • Day 1: Session 1 - From Innovation to Integration: AI in Clinical Practice

    • Apply the B.E.A.S.T.I.E. framework to assess ethical, clinical, and operational considerations of AI use.

  • Day 1: Session 2 - Advancing Nutrition Outcomes with CMS Age-Friendly Measures
    • Define CMS quality measures relevant to clinical nutrition, including the Age-Friendly Hospital Measure and its connection to the Malnutrition Care Score (MCS).
    • Describe the components of the 4Ms Framework of the Age-Friendly Hospital Measure and their relevance to nutrition care in older adults.
    • Demonstrate strategies for interprofessional collaboration that align nutrition care with hospital-wide quality initiatives.
  • Day 2: Session 1 - Team Building: Back to Basics
    • Identify 1-2 specific areas to increase team cohesion.
    • Implement at least one action on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to improve team building.
    • Outline a long-term, sustainable team building strategy and approach.
  • Day 2: Session 2 - Transforming Merged Nutrition Teams with Informatics Solutions
    • Evaluate strategies for aligning nutrition documentation, workflows, and reporting across merged or acquired health systems.
    • Integrate standardized templates, policies, and nutrition order sets within the EMR to drive consistency and quality of care.
    • Design and implement approaches for building staff and leadership buy-in to sustain organizational change and innovation in clinical nutrition services.
  • Day 2: Session 3 - From Burnout to Buy-In: Building Leadership Pipelines in Nutrition Services
    • Describe key contributors to burnout and disengagement within clinical nutrition teams.
    • Apply mentorship and leadership development strategies to strengthen team cohesion and morale.
    • Develop a succession planning framework to prepare future nutrition leaders.
    • Evaluate how leadership pipelines align with retention, quality improvement, and organizational readiness goals.

Drew Hemler is a Canadian-American dietitian specializing in technology, professional practice, and practitioner development. For over a decade, he has integrated AI tech and training into academia, clinical care, private practice, and a wide range of consulting services—advancing employee training, program design, client engagement, communications, and student learning. Drew has partnered with organizations including Microsoft Canada, TELUS Health, Dietitian Connection, and more. A proud Fellow of the Academy, he serves on its National Nominating Committee and recently completed his term on the Committee for Lifelong Learning.

Speaker: Advancing Nutrition Outcomes with CMS Age-Friendly Measures

Dr. Carley Rusch serves as a Medical Science Liaison in Medical Affairs & Research at Abbott specializing in Adult Nutrition.

Prior to Abbott, Dr. Rusch worked multiple years as a clinical dietitian. Her expertise includes pre- and probiotics, malnutrition, critical care, cancer and neurological disorders.

Dr. Rusch currently serves on the board for the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dr. Rusch has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and been invited to present at national and international conferences.

Liz is a clinical nutrition manager and dietetic internship director at UCSF Health. Liz has a BS in English but fell in love with food and went on to get an MS in Nutrition at Bastyr University. Liz is passionate about connecting people and systems within the healthcare system to provide better patient outcomes. That passion drove them to lead the development and implementation of the Nutrition Care Process and lead the DTR team to work at the top of their scope.

Taylor Singleton is the Clinical Nutrition Manager for Evergreen Health System in the Greater Seattle Area. She completed her dietetic internship with a focus on Food and Nutrition Management and has a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. Throughout her career, she has been an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in addition to state and local groups, working to strengthen the dietitian community in the Pacific Northwest.
