In response to Fall 2021 DBC member survey, this webinar will emphasize the importance of policy and advocacy. The Academy's current legislative priorities aligned with strategic focus, organizational structures, and processes that move these forward as well as resources available to members will be discussed in detail. The process of advocacy entails relationship building, with begins with nurturing relationships. Communication/storytelling is at the core of building that connection. DBC members are the communication experts. With examples/quotes from current DBC members and calls to action this webinar will motivate every attendee/listener to be an advocate for equitable nutrition and public health.

Manju Karkare, MS, RDN, LDN, CLT, FAND

Manju Karkare, DBC DPG's Policy and Advocacy Leader is passionate about policy and has advocated for our profession for years through her service as a Reimbursement Representative and Public Policy Coordinator for her state affiliate of North Carolina and at the national level served on the Nutrition Services Payment Committee as a Board Liaison. Manju has vast dietetic experience from clinical and community nutrition to corporate wellness and private practice. Beyond her professional advocacy has worked also worked with local non-profit groups advocating for women's rights and social justice.
