Mobile Health Applications (Apps) have become powerful tools to support persons with diabetes (PWD) between visits where the majority of self-care occurs. Registered Dietitians and Diabetes Care and Education Specialists are uniquely positioned to recommend helpful apps to patients based on personal preferences and treatment goals. This session will cover how to individualize app selection, successfully onboard persons with diabetes, and support app use over time. Current research and challenges to app use including privacy, safety and security concerns will also be reviewed.
