This session will discuss how colonization continues to impact food sovereignty and food security for Native Nations, in addition to how policies created during The Removal Era and government subsistence programs have resulted in a high rate of health disparities in Native American communities. Decolonizing Dietetics will also explore ways the field of dietetics can reduce implicit bias in serving Native populations and become allies to Indigenous-led food sovereignty and security programs.
