2025 Digestive Diseases Nutrition Series: Now in its 5th year, the Digestive Disease Nutrition Series (DDNS) will feature eight expert-led presentations from November 9–12, 2025. Sessions will highlight cutting-edge topics including digestive complaints in aging, endometriosis in gut health, weight loss medications and GI symptoms, co-occurring GI conditions and eating disorders, micronutrient monitoring in IBD, neurogenic bowel, eosinophilic esophagitis, and GI nutrition strategies for athletes. Each 45 minutes presentation + 15 minutes Q&A that is led by members of the Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders (DIGID) workgroups. This series is an excellent opportunity to deepen your GI expertise—especially if you are preparing for the new Board Certification as a Specialist in Digestive Health.

Emily Arkin is a registered dietitian specializing in eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and weight-inclusive care. Her group nutrition practice, RD Emily & Team, is based in Washington, DC and serves the greater DMV area and North Carolina. She is a member of Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders (DIGID), a dietetic practice subgroup within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), where she contributes to the "Disordered Eating" working group that develops medical nutrition therapy resources for GI dietitians who encounter eating disorders in their practice. She has also previously worked in PHP/IOP higher levels of care for eating disorder treatment and is involved with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp), the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians (IFEDD), the Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC) and Project Heal. Emily has presented on behalf of AND, its District of Columbia and Maryland affiliates, iaedp and the Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA), as well as primary care and therapy groups. She is also the co-author of the new textbook, "Comprehensive Nutrition Therapy for Co-Occurring Gastrointestinal and Eating Disorders".

Lauren Adler Dear is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a group private practice in Boston, MA. She specializes in digestive health and eating disorders, and has developed a strong interest in how the two overlap. Lauren uses an evidenced-based approach to treat a wide range of conditions including eating disorders, IBS, IBD, SIBO, gastroparesis, functional dyspepsia, GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, mast cell activation syndrome, histamine intolerance, and postural orthopedic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Lauren is trained in clinical hypnotherapy and offers this modality as an adjunct treatment to help manage digestive symptoms and co-occurring anxiety. Lauren enjoys training other dietitians and interns on the overlap of digestive conditions and eating disorders. Brittany Rogers is an IBD focused Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Personal Trainer, and Behavior Change Specialist. She has an insurance-based telehealth group private practice, Romanwell, where she sees patients with IBD, other gastrointestinal conditions, and disordered eating. Brittany is on the National Scientific Advisory Committee for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and is the national leader of the IBD practice group for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also a member of the Eating Disorder and Gastrointestinal Disorder (EDGI) Training Project, where she co-authored a book for practitioners called, Comprehensive Nutrition Therapy for Co-occurring Gastrointestinal and Eating Disorders.

With more than a decade of experience as a clinical dietitian, Lauren's practice has supported the nutritional needs of medical teams and athletic coaches nationwide, specializing in gastrointestinal health and sports and performance nutrition and serving adults and kiddos with various clinical diagnoses. Lauren proudly completed her dietetic residency through the Veterans' Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Beyond patient care, Lauren has delivered GI lectures to fellow dietitians, presented at GI conferences, and published chapters in GI textbooks and other reference materials. Lauren also serves on the Healthcare Provider Education Committee for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's Greater LA-OC Chapter, the U.S. Advisory Board for Monash University's Low FODMAP Diet program, the workgroups for both IBD and short bowel syndrome within Dietitians in GI Diseases (DIGID), and CDR's Certified Specialist in Digestive Health (CSDH) Committee to develop the first GI-focused credential for dietitians. When not serving her patients, Lauren is likely out on a run or can be found in the ocean, scuba diving, surfing, or freediving.

Laura Manning is a registered dietitian in the Department of Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She works with patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein IBD Center along with patients diagnosed with Celiac, IBS, EoE, Short Bowel Syndrome and motility disorders. She has been working as a dietitian for almost 25 years with 20 being in gastroenterology. While working with a staff of over 20 doctors, she has the unique opportunity to work with a team titled: Gaining Resilience Through Transitions (GRITT), developed by Dr. Laurie Keefer. A multidisciplinary team of providers meet on a bi-weekly basis to discuss referred patients. The team collaborates on designing a customized care strategy to ensure that each participating patient has full access to an ideal IBD team of professionals -- medical, nursing, pharmacy, social worker, child life, nutritional, and behavioral/psychological. An interdisciplinary patient care approach has been an integral part of how Laura counsels her patients, as it allows her to understand different practitioner's perspectives in a holistic care setting.

Megan began her career as a Clinical Dietitian at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in 2017, following the completion of her master's degree and dietetic internship at the University of Vermont. In this role, she primarily supported patients on the stroke and spinal cord injury units, while also providing care for individuals with traumatic brain injuries, amputations, burns, and other complex rehabilitation needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Megan partnered with her colleague Olivia to co-develop a nutrition-focused support group through SCI Boston. This group continues to meet weekly, offering education and discussion on a wide range of nutrition topics relevant to the spinal cord injury community. In 2022, Megan advanced to the role of Clinical Nutrition Manager at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where she continues to lead with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Olivia has been a Clinical Dietitian at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital since 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree at Penn State University prior to moving to Boston for her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She went on to complete here master's through Texas Tech with an emphasis in sports nutrition. At Spaulding, Olivia works both inpatient and outpatient serving a variety of populations including spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, burns, strokes, amputations, and neurological and physical conditions. She shares a particular passion for spinal cord injury with ongoing work with SCIBoston providing a weekly nutrition education session to the SCI community. Olivia appreciates how focused the SCI community is on using nutrition to help them live their best life.

Nikki Misner works as an outpatient dietitian at USF Health in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She has been practicing as a registered dietitian specializing in gastroenterology for 6 years and works with children with a wide variety of GI conditions. Nikki holds a FARE Certificate of Training in Pediatric Food Allergy and has a strong interest in diet therapies for eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. She currently serves as the Research Chair of the Council for Pediatric Nutrition Professionals and is a co-host for Nutrition Pearls: The Pediatric GI Nutrition Podcast.

Kathryn Adel is a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics(CSSD). She completed degrees in both kinesiology and nutrition, as well as a Master's degree in Sports Nutrition from Laval University in Canada. She also completed the Monash University FODMAP certification for Dietitians. Kathryn has nearly 15 years of experience working as a dietitian in various areas of practice, but particularly specializes in sports nutrition and GI nutrition. She also has experience helping athletes who suffer from GI symptoms during exercise. She owns her private practice (FitWave Nutrition) which primarily focuses on sports nutrition and gut health. She also provides talks and writes blog articles for various organizations. Outside of her work, Kathryn is a mom of 2 toddler boys, as well as an avid runner, surfer and traveler.
