The Global MIG presents a webinar underwritten by a grant from the Academy on how diversity and inclusion principles are applied in international settings. Representatives of three international nutrition programs discuss the basics of their programs and how they assure inclusion of diverse populations within their communities.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain at least one goal of the three programs discussed and how they contribute to nutrition improvements in their communities.
  2. List at least one group within the communities reached by these programs who are at risk of marginalization.
  3. Discuss two ways each program works to make sure the at risk populations are included in the programming.

Speakers

Chester "Chet" Thomas

Chet Thomas is Founder and Executive Director for Proyecto Aldea Global (PAG) and has spent more than 30 years living in Honduras developing agricultural, nutrition, and education programs.

Pamela Achiaa Effah, MS

Pamela Achiaa Effah holds a Bachelor's and Master of Science Degree in Biological Science and Dietetics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Ghana respectively. Pamela has had the privilege to practice the dietetic profession in both private and public healthcare, academic institutions as well as NGOs where she functions as a consultant Dietitian. Currently, she functions as an Assistant Lecturer in Klintaps University College, a Dietetic consultant for 4 health facilities in Ghana, a Research Associate for Elite Consult Ghana (an academic research institute), a Nutrition Health Awareness advocate and as a Clinical dietitian.

Slackchay "Nina" Rasprasith, BSc

Nina Rasprasith has worked in multiple nutrition settings, presented her nutrition work in Loas at national conferences and is currently a graduate student of public health at Emory University.
