This webinar was presented live on April 23, 2020.
The purpose of this webinar is to encourage hiring individuals with disabilities into the profession of nutrition and dietetics. The Moderator (Neva Cochran, MS, RDN, LD, FAND) will include the Academy's Diversity and Inclusion Statement, statistics on diversity among the USA and Academy, and information about ethics, specifically autonomy. Two speakers from JAN will speak for the majority of the webinar to provide an overview on JAN, reasons to hire and retain individuals with disabilities, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and examples of accommodations. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask their own questions. The webinar will include a Campaign for Disability Employment PSA which challenges misconceptions about employing people with disabilities and reinforce roles we all play to foster an inclusive workforce that benefits everyone. The webinar will be close-captioned.
